In memory of Cord LaBarge...

|
On January 25, 2006, we lost a very special boy in our community. Cord LaBarge, age 14, died. Our community was devastated. On the drive home from his wake, I told Merv if we had a stud colt born this spring, his name would be "Cord". On April 1st we received a postcard in the mail saying "Thank You" from Cord's family. The postcard was of Cord and his paint pony. That same night our Cord was born. The Indians worship the white buffalo. This foal came white with a palomino war bonnet and palomino spots. Again, Indian legends say "War Bonnet Paints" have special powers. Drying him off I cried because I knew he would be special. He was going to carry a great name from a very special young man. He has now turned all white "Sabino" with blue roan/black underlying skin spots. -Sue Wehnke in memory of Cord LaBarge
